The Black Power Tarot is a 22-card deck, in earthy tones and infused with meaningful Black icons. From Richard Pryor to Tina Turner, you’ll find the Major Arcana represented through powerful Black figures from pop culture history.
Meet Tupac Shakur as The Hanged Man. The World as Sister Rosetta Tharpe. Sun Ra as… The Sun! The deck is based on Jodorowsky’s Marseille interpretation. Developed by King Khan, the Black Power Tarot has a consultant in Alejandro Jodorowsky, and an artist by the name of Michael Eaton. All the details are there, it’s up to you to find them.
The cards are packaged in a nesting box of beautiful brown snakeskin. The card backs and box interior feature a soothing diagonal repeating pattern. Each illustration is crafted to evoke a specific reaction. Let yourself sink into these cards, and fully accept the meaning of the poses and iconography.
