The Guided Hand Tarot is a hand-collaged Tarot deck, created by artist and illustrator Irene Mudd. It’s been accessible to tarot lovers around the world since March 2018.
This deck approaches the ancient symbolism of the Tarot from a queered, feminist perspective. It blurs many of the rigid gender binaries present in traditional tarot decks by representing queer and sometimes androgynous figures in place of many "male" or "female" archetypes.
The overall aesthetic of the deck is vibrant, colorful and tactile, as it was created by hand through a combination of collage, painting, and embroidery. Palettes run from sweet pastels, to warm neutrals, offset by muted undertones. Flipping though is a calming, endearing experience. “Guidance” is the key word to consider, as the illustrations pull the viewer in deep, evoking strong connections via emotive figures and intelligent colorways.
Shipped in its own 2-part sturdy, printed box, the Guided Hand Tarot comes with a fold-out guidebook walking you through the energies of all cards, both major and minor arcana. Laminated 300gsm cardstock offers a luxe, confident shuffle.
With the Guided Hand Tarot, feel enlightened and lifted as you seek answers and info. This deck has a kind heart, and a beautiful expression. It’s a lovely tool for intuitive divination.
